Yeah, people definitely use more electricity now than before. These days everyone’s got at least a phone and a laptop, and usually a big TV too, and they’re charging or running all the time. At home we rely on appliances our parents didn’t use as much, like microwaves, dishwashers, and especially air conditioning in the summer. Plus, after COVID, a lot of people started working or studying from home, so laptops, lights, and Wi-Fi are basically on all day. And now you also see electric cars and scooters, which obviously adds to the power we use. Of course, some things are more efficient now, like LED bulbs, but in general, because we just have so many more devices, electricity use has gone way up compared to the past.
