some modern stories go for bittersweet endings, to show that life isn’t always perfect
I think most kids’ stories do have happy endings. Parents want children to feel safe, and it’s easier to teach values like kindness or honesty if the ending is positive. Fairy tales usually show good beating evil, so kids get the idea of what’s right and wrong. Of course, some stories have scary bits in the middle, like Little Red Riding Hood or Hansel and Gretel, but in the end everything’s fine. Not all of them are 100 percent cheerful though. Some modern books or cartoons go for bittersweet endings to show that life isn’t always perfect. But overall, I’d say happy endings are way more common, even if the road there has ups and downs.
