I do think there's a strong argument to be made that more and more people are becoming increasingly self-centered, or at least appear to be so, particularly when observing trends in contemporary society.
The pervasive nature of social media, with its emphasis on personal narratives, curated self-images, and the pursuit of online validation, can foster a greater preoccupation with oneself and less on the wider community.
Additionally, globalized economies and competitive job markets often emphasize individual achievement and personal gain, which can subtly encourage a more self-focused mindset over collective well-being or altruism.
While it's important not to generalize, the visible shift towards a more 'me-centric' culture, driven by technological convenience and societal pressures to stand out, suggests an ongoing trend where personal needs and desires sometimes eclipse broader social considerations.
