It depends. I usually scan texts first to get the general idea, and if something looks important, I go back and read it more carefully.
I mostly prefer scanning. It saves a lot of time, especially online, and I don't think every text needs detailed reading. Most of the time, I just want the main idea and decide if it’s worth reading more carefully.
I prefer detailed reading when it comes to important things. I don't like missing details, especially in work- or study-related texts, because small details can actually matter and change the meaning.
